Former All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Imtiaz Jaleel is leading a large rally called the Tiranga Samvidhan Rally to Mumbai, despite police restrictions. Jaleel, who lost his Lok Sabha seat to Sandipanrao Bhumre of Shiv Sena in the 2024 elections, is demanding the arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj and Nitesh Rane for allegedly making communal statements against Prophet Muhammad.
The Mumbai Police have confirmed that Imtiaz Jaleel has not received permission to enter the city, and barricades have been set up at the Mulund Toll Plaza to prevent his entry. Security has also been deployed to manage the situation and ensure public safety.
Jaleel, who is currently in the Padhgha area of Maharashtra’s Thane, plans to submit copies of the Constitution to the ruling Mahayuti and senior police officers, urging them to take action against Nitesh Rane and Ramgiri Maharaj. This is not Jaleel’s first rally; in 2021, he led the Tiranga rally demanding 5% reservation for the Muslim community in Maharashtra.
As a former journalist and politician, Jaleel has been vocal about various issues, including financial scams and communal harmony. His rally has sparked attention, highlighting the tensions between different communities in the state.
