Mumbai, India’s financial capital, has been battered by torrential rains, resulting in floods and disruptions that have brought the city to a standstill. The heavy downpour has claimed four lives, including a 45-year-old woman who drowned in a nullah overflowing with rainwater in suburban Andheri.

Schools and Colleges Closed: The city administration has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Mumbai, while the Pune district administration has also followed suit due to heavy rain.
Local Trains Back on Track: Central Railways has restored local train services in Andheri station, with trains running normally, albeit 3-4 minutes behind schedule.
Buses Operational: Buses of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking have resumed operations since early morning.
Flight Disruptions: 14 incoming flights were diverted to different airports due to heavy rains, with nine IndiGo flights not given clearance to land in Mumbai.
Landslide Reported: Heavy rain triggered a landslide at the Mumbra bypass around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.

Some areas of Mumbai recorded around 275 mm (11 inches) of rain on Wednesday evening, crippling road traffic and delaying local trains. According to BMC data, the island city, eastern suburbs, and western suburbs received 87.79 mm, 167.48 mm, and 95.57 mm rainfall between 5 pm and 10 pm.
Safety Advisory:
- The Central Railways has issued an advisory to commuters, urging them to avoid stepping onto waterlogged tracks and stay inside trains.
- Citizens are advised to exercise caution and stay indoors during heavy rainfall.
