Bengaluru, Karnataka – In a heated exchange reflecting the intense political climate in Karnataka, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has launched a fierce attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of hypocrisy regarding the state governor’s actions. Kumaraswamy’s remarks follow the governor’s decision to permit prosecution against Siddaramaiah, sparking a renewed debate about political accountability and the governor’s authority.

Kumaraswamy criticized Siddaramaiah for his contrasting responses to the governor’s decisions. “When the governor allowed the prosecution of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Siddaramaiah applauded his actions. Now, he and his party are disrespecting the same governor,” he stated, underscoring what he sees as Siddaramaiah’s double standards.

The Union Minister pointed to the shifting narrative of the Congress party concerning the governor’s role. “Under Hansraj Bhardwaj, they had one stance. Now, with Thaawarchand Gehlot, they’ve changed their tune,” Kumaraswamy noted, illustrating the fluidity of political allegiances in the state.

Kumaraswamy reiterated that the governor acted within his legal rights. “Siddaramaiah previously acknowledged the governor’s authority to seek clarification. It appears he has forgotten his own statements,” he remarked. His comments come in the wake of several allegations against Siddaramaiah, including multiple cases filed against him in the Lokayukta.

“If Siddaramaiah is innocent, why the rush in cabinet decisions? Why hasn’t an FIR been registered against him 48 hours after the court order?” Kumaraswamy questioned, further amplifying the pressure on the Chief Minister.

The minister also accused Siddaramaiah and his cabinet of misusing police powers to intimidate dissenters. “I won’t be intimidated,” Kumaraswamy declared, signaling his determination to stand firm amid escalating tensions.

Clarifying his own position, Kumaraswamy stated that he had voluntarily visited the Lokayukta office and denied any wrongdoing. “I have committed no illegal acts,” he asserted, distancing himself from the controversies engulfing Siddaramaiah.

As Karnataka navigates these turbulent political waters, the rivalry between Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah remains a focal point. The state’s residents are left waiting for further developments, particularly regarding the governor’s influence and the implications for Siddaramaiah’s administration.
