The Dussehra box office clash between Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra has kicked off, with the former taking an early lead. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video managed to rake in ₹5 crore on its opening day, surpassing Jigra’s collection of ₹4.25 crore.

Directed by Raaj Shaandilya, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri as a newly-wedded couple in 1990s’ India, whose lives turn upside down when their wedding night sex tape goes missing. The slapstick comedy also features Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh, Rakesh Bedi, Tiku Talsania, and Ashwini Kalsekar, with Mallika Sherawat making her acting comeback.

According to Sacnilk, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video registered a 17% occupancy across India on day one, with a promising 32% occupancy for night shows. Trade insiders suggest that despite the box office clash, the two films cater to different genres and target audiences, allowing them to coexist.

While Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’s opening numbers may not be exceptional, the Dussehra holiday on Saturday is expected to boost its collection. The film’s performance will be closely watched in the coming days to determine its overall success.

In contrast, Vasan Bala’s actioner Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, had a relatively lower screen count and opening collection. However, its performance is likely to pick up over the weekend.

The box office clash between Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Jigra has sparked interest among film enthusiasts, with many eagerly awaiting the outcome.
