In a monumental moment for Indian cinema, Jr NTR-starrer Devara Part 1 is poised to register one of the biggest box office openings in history. Directed by Koratala Siva, the pan-India release hit screens on Friday, September 27, and trade pundits predict a staggering ₹140-crore opening.
Following impressive advance booking numbers in India and overseas, Devara Part 1 is set to coast through the ₹100-crore mark on its opening day. Early projections indicate domestic earnings between ₹85-95 crore gross, with ₹70 crore from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh alone. Internationally, the film is expected to rake in over $5 million (₹40-45 crore).
If Devara achieves the projected ₹140-crore opening, it will secure the seventh spot in India’s highest opening day collections, surpassing Bollywood’s recent big hitters Jawan (₹129 crore) and Animal (₹116 crore). This feat would cement Devara’s position as the 14th Indian film to cross the ₹100-crore mark on day one.
Koratala Siva’s action thriller features Jr NTR in a double role, alongside Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist in his Telugu language debut. Janhvi Kapoor marks her Tollywood debut as the female lead.
Devara Part 1’s monumental opening is a testament to Jr NTR’s star power, returning as a solo hero after sharing the screen with Ram Charan in RRR. As fans and critics eagerly await the film’s performance, one thing is certain – Devara Part 1 is set to make its mark on Indian cinema history.
